Ask this site
The Ask button at the bottom right of every page answers questions about the group’s research from what is published on this site. It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or to anyone else.
What it searches
- the pages of this site and new posts,
- the blog archive, 2009 to 2025,
- the publication list, one record per article with its authors, journal, year and DOI,
- summaries of the group’s papers, written from the papers themselves, each with the citation of the paper it summarizes.
How it works
Your question is matched against these passages with a keyword search (BM25) in your browser, and the best matches are listed with links. That part works in any browser.
If your browser supports WebGPU (a recent Chrome or Edge, Safari 26 or later, or Firefox with WebGPU enabled), you can also click Load model to download a small language model with WebLLM. It is downloaded once, cached by your browser, and runs on your own device. It then writes an answer using only the passages that were found, citing them by number.
Limits
Small models make mistakes. Treat a written answer as a pointer to the passages, and check the passages and the papers they cite before relying on it. If nothing relevant is found, the assistant should say so rather than answer from memory, but it is not guaranteed to.
